Be Alert: PPP Scam

As a valued ANB customer, it is important that we keep you informed and knowledgeable about how to protect yourself and your business from cyber scams, including social engineering, identify theft and phishing.

We want to alert you to the potential for Payment Protection Program (PPP) scams. Payment Protection Program (PPP) loans were forgivable government-secured loans available to certain businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a government program, certain information related to PPP loan borrowers is publicly available, including borrower names, loan amounts, and lending banks. Criminals are exploiting this information to contact borrowers while impersonating representatives of financial institutions. Through social engineering, criminals gain access to customer accounts to steal funds.

ANB employees, including the Fraud department, will never:

  • Ask for your online banking credentials,
  • Advise you to send money out of the bank to secure it, or
  • Tell you that you should not discuss activity with your normal bankers

If you encounter any of these signs, please report them immediately to our Customer Care Team by calling 1-866-433-0282.
